First things first...

Recently I have felt the need to get my home in order. Basing this need off of many talks I have listened to from our Prophet and local church leaders. Last night my father in law spoke at a fireside held at the LDS Stake Center building, about being financially wise. He said "organize one thing in your life". He also said he feels that their is a direct correlation between organization in the home and financial organization. He has found that when being in a home that is in chaos usually its found that their finances are in chaos as well. So last night Jeff and I sat down and talked about what is organized in our life. I was amazed at how much organization I had already taken care of. I was able to list off things such as my 72 hour kit, my 6 month food storage, our budget, my exercise plan, my cleaning schedule, Evalie's daily schedule, my closets, my Christmas plan, our emergency fund, the makings of our getting out of debt plan. My father in law said that if we want to know how to feel at peace with our finances we need to follow the counsel given to us by Prophets of the Church. Paying an honest tithing, a generous fast offering, getting our food storage in order, save for a rainy day, getting out of debt, and live within our means are the things I thought of when he said this. Its feels so liberating knowing I am at least headed in the right direction. Being organized is so relaxing to me.

I'm jealous. DJ and I have been talking about making our get out of debt plan for months and still haven't done it. I blame it on him being gone but I guess its no excuse. Our house is in chaos, so to speak. But we are working on it. Thanks for being a good example to us.

I agree!! I have to be organized or I would go crazy! I always have to have a budget, I have to have things put away. I have to know where money is going. As a kid every time I got stressed my mom would ask me if my room was cleaned and 9times out of 10 it wasn't. Once it got in order I was good again!!

Thanks for this. As I've seen everyone blog about needing to get their homes in order, I keep saying I need to do the same. But reading yours has reminded me that, while we still have plenty of work to do, there are things we've done and steps we've taken. Thanks to you I'm giving myself a mini pat on the back ... and then getting back to work.

Many many people are feeling this "get your home in order!" I think our Heavenly Father might be telling us something. I am totally with you, and no matter where you are at in your "order" Heavenly Father will bless us, cause we listening and doing it. Line upon line....

I don't know how I missed your 24 years post. That was amazing. At first I wasn't going to to read it all, but then you sucked me right into your story by the amazing things you remember. I don't know if i could do that. Thats something I must try though. Good Job.
